What neither device does
- Neither catches a leak downstream of a closed valve position in a branch it cannot see — for example, an irrigation line teed off before the device.
- Neither replaces point leak sensors. A washing machine hose leaking into a pan on the second floor produces very little flow. Put inexpensive sensors under every appliance, sink, and water heater. Our placement guide covers where.
- Neither prevents a pipe from freezing. They alert on low temperature and let you shut off remotely, which limits damage; they do not add heat.
